My father is the kind of man who
screams under water,
and is the only man to choke me

Sophia is a twenty one-year-old poet based in Surrey. She has recently graduated from the University of Winchester with an English Literature and Creative Writing degree. Her poetry aims to blend a sharp, feminist critique on a female’s life through their adolescent to young adulthood years. Poets such as James Tate, Selima hill, Olivia Gatwood and Melissa Lee-Houghton have inspired her writing and for this poem in particular, which was crafted during a workshop task for her final year poetry portfolio.
